The use of food supplements for weight loss purposes has rapidly gained popularity as the prevalence of obesity increases. Navigating through the vast, often low quality, literature available is challenging. Many strategies have been proposed for the treatment of weight excess and its detrimental consequences, ranging from dietary regimens to pharmacological treatments, extreme physical exercise and psychological approaches.
Amongst these approaches so-called super foods and food supplements have gained much popularity in recent years which are likely to exert an anti-obesogenic effect in the absence of significant adverse events.
Here are a couple of food supplements which have been shown in the scientific literature to work
Interestingly these dietary supplements were also proven to exert anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects, possibly aiding the resolution of low-grade chronic inflammation typical of weight excess and metabolic derangements.
In addition, a large body of research is now showing that nutrient-rich whole foods can substantially increase calorie burning while also satisfying hunger. This means eating less without feeling like you’re on a diet and burning more calories. Just by changing the foods you eat, you can burn approximately 100 to 150 extra calories per day.
There is so much literature to sift through it becomes impossible to tell the science from the sales hype. However, despite the benefit of these supplements it is only one part of a much bigger program and any program that does not advocate healthy eating, gut health, the role of fibre, protein etc along with low toxic living and social support is likely to fail.
That is why we created the Weight Loss MasterClass to show you how to really lose weight without the product hype. This is also why we have all our programs in our Membership that includes many areas like the ones we mention above to support your health and weight loss at the same time.
